A Lifetime of Melody
Suresh Wadkar
About the Artist
A voice that has touched millions — soulful, classically rooted, and endlessly melodic.
Padma Shri awardee Suresh Wadkar is one of India's most celebrated playback singers, with a career spanning five decades. Born in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, he trained under the legendary Acharya Jialal Vasant and won the prestigious Sur-Singar competition in 1976 — his gateway to Bollywood.
His breakthrough came when Jaidev chose him to sing "Seene Mein Jalan" for the film Gaman (1978). His collaboration with R.D. Burman produced the timeless "Tumse Milke Aisa Laga" (Parinda), and Raj Kapoor featured him prominently across landmark films like Prem Rog and Ram Teri Ganga Maili.
